During [[Samantha Carter]]'s childhood, her mother used to sing to her "{{W|Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star}}" ([[SG1]]: {{ep|Grace}}).

When Sam was twelve, her father [[Jacob Carter]] was supposed to pick up her wife at the airport, but he wasn't there on time. So her wife had to take a cab to come back home. She died in a car accident. Because of this, Samantha and her brother [[Mark Carter|Mark]] blamed their father for many years until they eventually forgive him ([[SG1]]: {{ep|Seth}}, {{ep|Jolinar's Memories}}, {{ep|The Devil You Know}}).
